New Creative Ventures
Who is the course for?
This course is potentially available and free to all existing London Business School MBA and Sloan Fellowship students and University of the Arts Masters students. It runs over 10 weeks consisting of a weekly three hour session at London Business School. The course is free but is only open to those eligible.
Why was it developed?
The goal of this course is to understand and identify the process by which creative ideas are turned into commercial ventures in both start-up and corporate environments.
What is NCV?
Students will explore how entrepreneurs identify and analyse the commercial feasibility of creative ideas, turn them into products and services, and take these products and services to market. Issues tackled include:
To what extent is the creative process affected by technological change?
Why and how does the culture of creativity matter?
How to protect intellectual property?
How to finance new creative ventures?
How to build capabilities?
What marketing pitfalls to avoid?
How to assess collaborative options to offset risk?
How to expand internationally?
Course structure:
The course includes case studies, lectures, and guest speakers from London's world-class creative businesses. As part of the course, teams of MBA and Masters students will work together in inter-disciplinary teams on real business opportunities.
In the final session, teams will present their findings to a 'Dragon's Den' panel of entrepreneurs, managers and financiers from the industry. The winning presentation will receive a cash prize.

Special Moves
"If we hadn't attended the BCB course... we would not have the same levels of confidence we have now and we would not have developed as good a network in the same period of time."
