Glue
Glue's story began In October 1999 when gluemedia was set up, with interactive agency group Deepgroup. Early success and steady growth looked promising but the dotcom bubble burst for Deepgroup and in September 2001 they went out of business.
By managing to retain their staff and client relationships Mark Cridge and his team broke away and established a new agency called glue London. Their decision to focus exclusively on digital creative and strategy has proved a winning formula. They've doubled their revenue for the second year running and jumped in size to over 90 people as well as winning Marketing's New Media Agency of the Year.
In the video clip Mark explains the challenges they faced in keeping the same philosophy and levels of communication of a small company during a period of rapid expansion and the importance of choosing the right staff and maintaining strong working relationships. Glue's success culminated in Mark selling the company to Isobar, the digital advertising unit set up by Europe's largest media-buying network Aegis in a £14.7m deal in August 2005.
